Its honed and polished surface creates a silky smooth luxurious finish that is particularly suitable for the creation of modern, contemporary areas while crisp, straight edges facilitate close joint laying that negates the need for jointing mortar.
While sandstone is often used for external applications, for example, for paving stones on patios, porches, and driveways, it is also suitable for internal use. Many enjoy sandstone’s beautiful creamy colouring and patterns, using it to create kitchen backsplashes, bathroom walls, and a number of other features.
Polished Sandstone not only looks good but it also feels good ‘under foot’ making it ideal for both internal flooring and external paving. Sandstone is a sedimentary rock formed by the build-up of layers of sand over a period of thousands of years. As time passes, the layers cement together, building a hard and durable rock. It has an incredibly fine grain and a slightly porous surface. For this reason, sandstone tiles must be sealed upon installation to protect them against staining and moisture damage. The completion of this process, and regular top-up, means the tiles are likely to last for decades, a worthy investment.
